What is humanities?
Humanities is the study of the human experience from our earliest civilizations to present day. In this course, students will be analyzing the literature, cultures, beliefs, and histories of the Eastern World. By examining places like China, Africa, and the Middle East, students will gain an understanding and appreciation of the diversities that have shaped and continue to shape our world today. Stressing reading, writing, speaking and researching skills, the humanities curriculum challenges students to see their place in a complex global world.

Why is humanities important?
Through exploration of the humanities, we learn how to think creatively and critically, to reason, and to ask questions. Research into the human experience enables us to appreciate and preserve the accomplishments of the past, helps us to understand the world we live in today, and gives us the tools to imagine and impact the future. The ultimate goal of this course is to expose students to the interconnectedness of our world and to celebrate the diversity that enriches the communities that we live in.
